Ten countries including Sierra Leone, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Cape Verde, Liberia, Morocco, Mali and Mauritania, will participate in the 2011 championship.
The tournament serves as a zonal qualification for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
At a press briefing held at offices of SLVA at the National Stadium, the Secretary General, Ahmed Khanou said his organization has budgeted Le 84m for the three day tournament.
He said the SLVA encourages sponsors from companies willing to do so.
“It is our wish to raise more funds exceeding the stipulated amount,” he said.
“We are expecting ten countries to take part in this year’s tournament and it would cost us huge amount of money. I hope and pray that those companies out there will come and cooperatively sponsor the event.”
“We are looking forward from corporate entities such as Africell, Zain, Mercury International, Comium and the rest to make for a successful volley tournament.”
He emphasized the association is working tirelessly in the enhancement of a successful tournament and making the players happy ahead of the tourney.
He however called on volleyball followers to come in their thousands and support the national flag.
