Morocco Wins African Beach Volley Ball
The African Volley Ball Beach Tournament rounded up Saturday 15th. Morocco respectfully clinched the tournament after winning two straight games to Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone being the first and only country to host the African Beach tournament made its way to the finals after defeating Liberia on 4 straight wins.
Morocco who also defeated Guinea on 4 straight wins apparently emerged as finalist.
In the match between Sierra Leone and Morocco, host Sierra Leone was subdued on two straight wins by the Moroccans nay endorsing the latter’s as winners of the competition.
However, Sierra Leone and Morocco automatically qualify for the African Beach Championship scheduled for May/June of 2011 in Mozambique.
It must be noted also that Sierra Leone is likely to qualify for the Olympic championship scheduled for 2012 in the UK.
History has had in its records that Sierra Leone has been the first country to host the African Beach Volley Ball qualifier.
Though not popular, Sierra Leone has seemingly proved to Africa that it has the potential to promote volley ball on the continent.
It must be noted that the current President of the Zone II Volley Tournament is a Sierra Leonean.
