SWASAL Cements Partnership With Volleyball Association

In line with its objective to give equal opportunities to all sporting disciplines in terms of adequate coverage both locally and internationally, the National Executive of the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) Monday 2nd November, 2015 has cemented their working relationship and partnership with the Sierra Leone Volleyball Association (SLVA) following a courtesy call at the Association head office, Siaka Steven Stadium in Freetown.

Introducing a cross section of the SWASAL Executive, National Secretary General, Sahr Morris Jr. thanked the SLVA for the reception within a short notice, and further highlighted the reasons to strengthen the partnership.

He also emphasised the need for training of SWASAL members by the SLVA which he said will attract their interests and serve as a motivation to promote Volleyball far and wide.

SWASAL President Frank Cole spoke of the existing long ties between both associations and assured of his executive urge to give equal opportunities in terms of publicity and coverage to all local sports.

“SWASAL believes this partnership with the SLVA will yield positive dividend as it is a win-win situation,” Frank Cole said.

In his remarks, the SLVA President Christopher John described the courtesy call as a laudable gesture.

He said the Volleyball Family continues to make positive strides partly because of the support of the local media.

“We (SLVA) pledge our total commitment to continue working with SWASAL to further develop and promote Volleyball,” said Christopher John.

The association’s Secretary General Hon. Ahmed Khanou in his statement said that working hand-in-glove with SWASAL was a golden opportunity.

He stressed the need for sharing of ideas and formulating programs and policies that would enhance the general growth of sports in the country.

Hon. Ahmed Khanou also gave an update on SLVA upcoming activities including the “Africa Dream Project.”

“This project aims at scouting talents at an early rather than at a late age,” the SLVA scribe said.

Both parties eventually agreed on the training of SWASAL members; providing extensive coverage of local and international competitions as well as sponsorship opportunities.
