Airtel Staff support Tombo pupils
Airtel, 2010 award winning Telecommunications Company is keeping up to its corporate social responsibilities as they remain committed to enhancing quality education in Sierra Leone. The adoption of the REC Tombo community school, still remains a key focus in this vein. The market leaders have demonstrated their resolve through a mother/parental concern for the children of the onetime tattered structured edifice that shelters the School. REC Primary school received a facelift from Airtel early this year in an adoption project that is purposely set up to reach out the underprivileged and vulnerable children of society. However, this laudable gesture from Airtel to the rural community school does not bring a stop to this project.
Staff of Airtel volunteered in April this year to sponsor at least one child each from the REC Tombo School on their personal remuneration. A monthly sum of twenty thousand Leones (Le20,000) is been offered to each beneficiary while other learning materials including books, uniforms, clothing and other schooling materials were donated to the pupils.
Staff of Airtel pay regular visits to the school to ensure that the pupils are doing well. Some members of staff volunteered sponsor at least five underprivileged pupils, read the undermentioned names:-
1. Managing Director – RVS Bhullah
2. Director of Corporate Affairs and communication – Kelvin Kellie
3. Information Technology Manager – Uday Rakcale
4. Head of Marketing – Rufina .A. Tucker
5. Corporate Affairs Manager – June Rose Johnson
6. Human Resource Manager – Jestina Bett
This initiative was borne out of the willingness of staff of Airtel to enhance development for their brothers and sisters of this nation.
Airtel staff wants to make children become the bedrock of a successful new Sierra Leone.
