IMC halts war between Philip Neville & Sylvia Blyden!
The Independent Media Commission (IMC) has put a moratorium on the on-going media war between Standard Times and Awareness Times Newspapers.
At an emergency meeting of the Board of the Commission held on Thursday April 21st, to which the Executive Director of Standard Times, Mr. Philip Neville was invited, the Commissioners reprimanded Mr. Neville for the headline and story in the April 19th and 21st editions of the Standard Times alleging that “Sylvia Blyden was not the daughter of her father” and that she served as “parlour wife” while she was residing, in Maryland in the USA.
The Commissioners also called attention to the Executive Director’s reference to Sylvia Blyden’s alleged admiration for the king size bed of John Benjamin and pointed out that the headline and story were not only provocative but also misleading. In his defence Mr. Neville among other things accused Dr. Sylvia Blyden of unprofessional behaviour and insisted that she must be stopped. The Board ordered Mr. Neville to cease the current mudslinging between himself and Dr. Sylvia Blyden forthwith, for as a very senior journalist and a former President of SLJA, he should comport himself in a manner that will win him the respect that he deserves.
Mr. Neville accepted the moratorium ordered by the IMC and promised to stop the mudslinging immediately. The IMC has also sent a letter to Dr. Sylvia Blyden ordering her to stop the “media war” not only with Mr. Philip Neville but also with other media institutions to bring sanity to the media.
Meanwhile, all media institutions that were levied fines over the past weeks for contravention of the IMC Media code of Practice have paid. They include Awareness Times, the Senator and Global Times.

If Executive directors can degenerate to such practice, what do we expect from freelance journalist???? This shows the quality of information otherwise known as misinformation these media houses stain the common public. IMC, SLAJ,…. you have a role to play, paying fines is only making it lucrative on the other hand.
