No Case for Biriwa Chief
Monday 4th witnessed real time exoneration of the APC’s topple of paramount chief, P C Alpha Madseray Sheriff who was in court for contravening law relating to his refusal of handing over the staff of office of the paramount chief.
At the well of Magistrate Court II, prosecuting attorney, Y S Koroma, graciously offered no evidence stating reason that the accused has already surrendered the staff of office to the Consultant Master and Registrar.
Lawyer Koroma however asked for the matter to be dropped against the deposed paramount chief owing to the fact that the staff which formed the basis of the case is with court and not the accused.
Magistrate Wellington, upon hearing the submission of the state council lawyer, found not guilty the erstwhile chief and therefore declared him a free man.
It could be recalled that Paramount Chief Alpha Madseray Sheriff, some few weeks ago, was whisked by team of police officers in Makeni and escorted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Freetown, where he was detained for about two days before being taken to court to answer to two count charges.
On his first appearance, he was refused bail and made to spend the night at the central maximum prison at Pademba Road, Freetown.
He was granted bail on his second appearance and later ordered to surrender the staff of the office of the paramount chief to the court which he did.
