Finnish citizen set for S/Leone debut

Partizan Belgrade defensive midfielder Mohamed Medo Kamara has called on Sierra Express Media to articulate his enthusiasm in presenting his native land Sierra Leone for the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier on March 27 against Niger in Niamey.  (Photo:  Medo chasing Arsenal’s Arshavin)

Medo, 23 is amongst the new faces called up by the Swedish technician Olof Mattsson to represent Sierra Leone in his first match in charge since he accepted the job to take over the Sierra Leone national side.

The former Helsingin Jalkapollklubi player will be making his debut for Sierra Leone for the first time since he represented Sierra Leone’s National U-17 side in the 2003 FIFA World Junior Championship in Finland.

He is also among the few Sierra Leoneans that was granted asylum in Finland in 2003 before given Finnish citizenship, however December 9, 2010, Medo was turned down by FIFA for the right to play for Finland’s National side.

Medo has pace and acceleration, good fitness, he works hard, has a nice powerful long shot and can tackle and pass. He is a vital player for the Serbian league leaders and is at the top of his game and will bring a lot to the Sierra Leone national team.

Sierra Leone needs a win if they are to stand any chance to qualify!
