Soldiers arrested for stealing pistol
Soldiers of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces fell into the nets of the police for stealing a pistol owned by a Guinean police officer.
Ibrahim Sorie and Musa Kamara who are now helping the police in their investigation, on the 19th February, fraudulently collected a pistol found in the hands of a Guinean International Police (Interpol) at the Guinea Lorry Park at Ferry Junction Kissy.
The pistol was collected with the intention of handing it to the police for investigation. Police source revealed that two Guinean police officers officially arrived in Freetown and were at the Guinea Lorry Park at Ferry Junction in search for one Thiemo Amadou Bah whom they say is wanted by Guinean police.
At the park they were found in possession of pistols. Civilians however intercepted them to know whether the pistols were legally possessed.
In the process, Sorie Ibrahim and Musa Kamara, who claimed to be Sierra Leonean soldiers, collected one of the pistols with promise of handing same to the police for investigation.
The pistol, we are told, never reached the police at all.
The two Guinean police whose names were given as Mohamed Mercel Doumbouya and Mohamed Camara arrived in Sierra Leone on official duty and were collaboratively working with personnel of the Sierra Police.
The Criminal Investigation Ddepartment (CID) was informed and a team of detectives later caught up with the soldiers for statement making.
Sorie Ibrahim and Musa Kamara have had rests in cells of the police and may soon be arraigned before court for fraud, conspiracy and other related offences.
