The disabled who claimed to have been homeless owing to discourteous and inhuman consideration of Mayor Williams, barricaded State Avenue in protest of 50 of their homeless colleagues.
The protesters were observed displaying placards that read: “we need shelter Mr. President. Our colleagues have been made homeless. Tell Mayor Herbert to do his job well etc.”
The disabled say they were living a peaceful life at a house at ECOWAS Street, but received a court order to quit.
It is disclosed that the order was issued in line with Mayor Herbert Williams’ request to have disabled persons evicted from the house.
As disabled persons converged on the street that leads to State House, emotions changed after the arrival of President Koroma.
That President Koroma respectfully read through quotations on placards and later invited the spokesperson and team to his office at State House for a talk.
Sources say that in the meeting between the President and the team of disabled, it was resolved that all 50 or more homeless persons should be provided with shelter.
