PGRM International Empowers Child Beggars
The Precious Gems Rescue Mission International (PGRM) has identified a good number of street children for educational support countrywide.
Speaking to Sierra Express Media, the founder of the faith based organization, who also doubles as proprietress of DUNNET Preparatory School in Freetown, Mrs. Marion Graham, revealed heartfelt concern for children dropping out of school owing to poverty.
She reflects on constraints faced by especially street children.
That most of the beggars unintentionally exploit their children by having them go to the streets begging for their living.
This, she reiterates, has caused many children particularly those whose parents are beggars, becoming constant liabilities of society.
It is against this that she is encouraged to prioritize in the midst of a multitude of destitute children, the kids of street beggars.
PGRM International separately feeds and evangelizes peace messages to Sierra Leonean children in the enhancement of their livelihood in society.
“The intention to see poor Sierra Leonean children get a better education just as their contemporaries, children of the rich, gives me the urge to initiate educational support for the poor and needy,” Mrs. Graham said.
“The children of the rich do not even associate with those of the blind, she continued.”
Adding that, “it causes psychological impact on the poor and less privileged.”
That unfortunate children can be transformed and made to become vital individuals of society – Presidents, Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, etc.
It is towards this that she has instituted a Mobile Educational Program aimed at reaching the under-privileged children.
In spite of laudable statements from some of the beneficiaries, the PGRM founder said that the movement is facing grave financial and moral bottlenecks.
That it is a result of such constraints that only about 150 beneficiaries have been registered and verified.
