Jonathan Las-Lamin was addressing Sierra Leoneans at a well-attended meeting at the Taxvey 15, 2880 Bagsvard in Copenhagen, Denmark, as one of the strategies.
“Sierra Leone is the only country we have – we therefore have to work hard to help rebrand our country’s image in positive light,” the Sierra Leonean Diplomat said amidst thunderous applause.
As one of the High Commission’s outreach strategy Las-Lamin, who was on an official assignment to address his counterparts on matters affecting them in that country, spoke on a number of issues including visa applications, immigration and other consular matters.
He called on them to be law-abiding and always call upon the Sierra Leone High Commission at any time; adding that the mission in London and his office in particular is wide open to address issues relating to their welfare.
Las-Lamin also spoke about progress made so far by the mission in London on celebrations marking Sierra Leone’s 50th Jubilee Anniversary.
Responding, the Chairman of the occasion, Hamid Barrie highlighted some of the problems faced by Sierra Leoneans in Denmark that include the renewal of passports from Denmark, shipment of goods from Denmark to Sierra Leone as well as flights to and from Denmark.
He also intimated the guests about plans to celebrate the 50th Independence Anniversary in Denmark in grand style.
Barrie and his compatriots called on the Sierra Leone High Commission to pay them regular visits in order to update them on developments back home.
Las-Lamin also held fruitful discussions with Sierra Leone’s Honorary Consul to Denmark Jorgen Rath Jorgensen.
Earlier, Las-Lamin was received at the Kastrup Airport by the Chairman of the Sierra Leone Danish Society Mr. Foday Sankoh.
