RailHawks striker ready for National call

Sallieu Bundu, aka ‘Teacher,’is a familiar face among the ranks of Sierra Leone professionals abroad.  With only 2 caps for his national team Leone Stars the hard hitting striker has said to Sierra Express Media that with his present form he is a better player and is ready for his national call. “As a footballer everyone is proud to contribute at the international level, I have only two caps with Leone Stars and now I am in top form again, it is time to be part of the squad, joining my national team mates will be great and I will prove beyond all doubts that I can deliver if given the opportunity, he told SEM.

“My first game for Sierra Leone was in the friendly against Leyton Orient were I found the net assist by Albert Jarret and we won the match 4-2 in the Brisbane stadium”

“It was as Brian Saah fouled on me Kallon stepped up to score from the spot the second goal of the day. Also I was in the squad for the 2010 Nation’s Cup qualifier against Equatorial Guinea, but this time it is down to the manager, and I know I can contribute a lot, he said.

He plays his trade in the USL second division championship with Carolina RailHawks in the US.   Bundu is among the top strikers in the division with four goals in 10 games for Carolina last season, the Sierra Leonean was the team leader in the category before securing an injury.

Bundu 27, in 2008 signed for Cleveland City Stars he immediately impressed head coach Martin at the time; according to Martin Rennie he was revealing in his first season, netting 8 goals from 19 appearances.  In August 2008 he scored his team winning goal in the championship game.
