The first encounter ended 1-1 a week ago and it was the Sierra Leonean’s away goal that paved the way for Apollo for an exciting return leg match.

The race began with a tremendous opportunity for Apollo when Mrntakovits was completely alone, but missed scoring after some lost coherence of the home team.

Momentum mounted as players from APOEL showed great effort but missed glaring chances to score.

Mrdakovic broke the deadlock in the 41st minute from the penalty spot to send the already rampant fans into ecstasy; the penalty caused strong protests from the APOEL players.

Domingo strengthened the attacking line playing alone with Sierra Leone’s midfield maestro Bangura and that put more pressure on Apoel defense.  In the 67th minute, the Lopez could have killed the game but missed a one on one with Jovanovic in the goal for Apoel.

Dominguez rounded the score up to two, securing the victory for Apollo.

APOEL Coach Ivan Jovanovic after the match congratulated Apollo as the best team of the day, I will not comment much, I think we blew it and we were not ready for such a fast game.
