Police sign MOU with SSGI
Faces of residents of Lumley are smiling after the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding between Lumley Police Division and Security Support Group International (SSGI) came to being.
The ceremony which took place yesterday 13th , at the office of the regional police commander western area, witnessed the police and a private security agency joining hands in the enhancement of security for residents within the Lumley communities.
In his opening remarks, the Local Unit Commander Lumley Police, Chief Superintendent T.M. Lahai, told all present that the understanding between his division and SSGI brings to birth the sharing of operational intelligence coming from the police angle with SSGI acting as support to the Sierra Leone Police on issues of security concern.
AIG Western Area, Chris Charlie, supports the initiative of both the Lumley Police Division and SSGI, calling it ‘something good for the security of the community of Lumley’.
He noted however that in due course, it is expected that some members of SSGI may be issued with fire arms while in joint operations with the police.
Manager SSGI, Mr. Jem Convery, donated a 30kv generator machine to Lumley Police Division to enable them to effectively perform their duties around the clock.
In an interview with Hon. Salaimatu Turay, she lauded the efforts of the police and SSGI and stated that she feels proud that such an initiative has come from her constituency.
