Africell presents Hajj package to winners
In an effort to meet its corporate social responsibility to the country, Africell Sierra Leone last Friday presented Hajj packages to two winners.
Speaking at the company’s head offices at Wilberforce, the Administrative Director, Mr. A.A. Gibes said that the company recognizes and respects all faith systems in the country. In this regard, he said maximum respect was attached to the last Holy Month of Ramadan as according to him Africell recognizes that every year the pilgrimage to the Holy land of Mecca is one of the pillars of Islam.
In a bid to continue this gesture, he said this year’s Ramadan Promotion was launched in August 2010.
He also went on to state that the promotion is in two segments – Quranic Recitation and Prayer Time Reminder.
He however stated that the company decided to extend the Ramadan Promotion (Quranic recitation and Prayer Time Reminder) to cover another pillar of Islam which is the performance of the Hajj in the holy land of Mecca.
Presenting the packages to the winners, Mr. Gibes aid Africell was proud to announce the two winners of the draw held on the 16th September, 2010. The package, he said was a sponsorship to the pilgrimage for the winners to the Holy land of Mecca to perform the year’s Hajj.
The rich sponsorship package, he disclosed, included, air tickets, accommodation in Mecca, transportation and health care plus cash for personal expenses.
“The two winners are not only lucky but are committed and loyal customers of Africell,” he said.
In another development, the administrative Director noted that the company has always been grateful to the environment and community it operates. As a result of this, he said the company was proud to sponsor one person, Mrs. Musu Marrah form the Wilberforce community to perform this year’s Hajj. Her package was the same as those of the two winners.
In response, Hon. Chernor Bah of Constituency 110 thanked God and Africell for making his dream become realty by sponsoring someone in his Constituency. He expressed hope for more support in the future
The head of Marketing, Nancy L Joseph also gave a brief background of the promotion during the holy month of Ramadan. According to her, they thought it fit to join their Muslim brothers and sisters to observe the just concluded Ramadan month. During the holy month, she said Africell subscribers were given the opportunity to be reminded of the five daily prayer times. Added to that, she said other lofty facilities were also enjoyed by their subscribers.
The winners are Mohamed Sheriff Jalloh and Issa Sesay and for the Wilberforce community, Musu Marrah bagged the Hajj package. All three of them thanked God and the management and staff of Africell for what they described as a “great gesture,” while praying for safe journey to and from Mecca.
