Cole to stick with Egypt squad

Veteran Sierra Leone head coach Christian Cole, who held African champions to a draw in his first AFCON 2012 qualifiers in Cairo, is expected to stick largely with the same squad when Leone Stars lock horns with South Africa in Freetown next month.  (Photo: Leone Stars’ captain Umaru Zingalay Bangura)

According to a reliable source the former Old Edwardians head coach met with SLFA officials recently to iron out details of the match and said the squad will once again see a contingent of not more than 5 players from the domestic league.

Source confirmed to Sierra Express Media that local lads will be joined by 15 Europe-based professionals, expected to be led by Umaru Zingalay Bangura.

Cole is expected to repeat the same performance in Egypt and this time to clutch all three points that will see his side stay top contender to reach 2012 Nations cup.

A win for Leone Stars means Christian Cole will be the second Sierra Leonean Coach to defeat South Africa at home soil in recent times, after Ahmed Kanu pulling off a fantastic 1-0 win against 2010 World Cup hosts in Freetown in 2008. This came after a great performance in defeat to Nigeria in their previous fixture.
