In search of armed robbers – house to house search in Lungi

Houses and other structures in Lungi and its environs are to be thoroughly searched as part of an effort to eliminate the increase in the state of armed robbery in the country, especially in Lungi.

Chief Superintendent Max Kanu, the newly appointed Local Unit Commander in Lungi said the search is being undertaken to ensure that robbers have no place to hide their loot. According to Kanu, the security situation in Lungi and its environs has now improved drastically as the whole area is now calm and normal

People are now going about their normal business following some bitter experiences and ugly relationships between the police and the military on one hand and the police and youths on the other.

Superintendent Max Kanu said he has informed the community about a meeting which he said will include local authorities in both Loko-Masama and the Kaffu-Bullum chiefdoms, which he said is aimed at creating common understanding among the police, youth. and military.

Kanu also revealed the Lungi police and the civil populace will map out strategies which he said will “put a stop to the current state of insecurity which is very common within the environment,” he said.

According to Max Kanu, this meeting, which he said will be ongoing, will take place on Thursdays and Fridays. “This meeting will serve as a way of rebuilding the lost confidence between the civil populace and the law enforcement officials.

“That is why we will sooner or later introduce house to house search to ensure that any landlord involved in harboring an armed robber will be immediately prosecuted through the due process of the law.
