Health Minister blockades Koroma’s health care
In sequel to our publication of Thursday 1st July 2010 which reported the misnomers and irrelevant bureaucratic principles adopted by the Deputy Minister of Health, Mohamed D. Koroma, making the work of doctors and nurses in the ministry seemingly impossible, further revelations have proved claims that the Deputy Health Minister is very deliberate in ensuring that the President’s Health Care Agenda fails.
In a sizzling telephone call placed to the Editor of this medium, the Deputy Health Minister boasted of his ploy to hinder the work of medical doctors and other peripheral health care professionals, describing them as “stupid professionals who are not ready to work, “but I will always ensure that I don’t make it easy for them,” the Deputy Health Minister said in utter arrogance.
Responding to claims of his untenable behaviour towards the President’s Free Health Care drive, Mohamed D. Koroma said “I have the right to take decision in my capacity as Minister of Health and no professional has the right to question me. Where were the professionals when illicit clinics existed, where were they when I had to chase fake doctors out of the country and where were they when the issue of adulterated water littered the streets of Sierra Leone, causing problems to public health?” the minister fumed.
He however agreed to the fact he is the one allowing scores of contaminated water on the streets of Freetown, a situation that has raised serious health concern to the people of the Sierra Leone.
