Citizens to parley with President Koroma, Speaker of Parliament, and Chief Justice
200 citizens drawn from different walks of life, irrespective of political affiliation, have been selected to take part in an open-dialogue session at State House to discuss Government’s plans for improved and sustainable policies on good governance and general development.
Organised by the Open Government Initiative (OGI), participants are drawn from teachers, social workers, medical professionals, advocates for the environment, artists, bike riders, professional drivers, paramount chiefs, farmers, and advocates for children, women and the vulnerable, who would have an opportunity to ask questions directly to the President, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Chief Justice (the heads of the three arms of Government – the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary respectively).
The topics to be discussed include, but not limited to, the following (in respect of issues affecting communities and finding workable solutions to them):
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Free Health Care Delivery System -Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Education -Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Energy -Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Household Food Self-Sufficiency -Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Water -Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Governance at National And Local LevelThe participants were nominated by civil society organisations and other stakeholders from all districts and the western area of Sierra Leone.
The programme will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday 12th June 2010.
