Feeding people at King George's Home

A Christian organization known as Swabonedope, on Saturday 10th October provided a sumptuous dinner for old people at the King George’s Home at Parsonage Street, Shell Kissy.

Rev. Canon Veronica Thomas treasurer of the group, in a brief interview with Sierra Express Media during the charity programme disclosed that Swabonedope was established as an organisation in 1975. According to Rev. Thomas, the meaning of Swabonedope is the first initials of all the founders of the group. She added that in every year on October 2nd. Saturday, as part of the programme they engage in feeding the aged. “Every year we prepare food and drinks to feed the old people at the King Georges Home,” the treasurer said.

Rev. Canon stated that her group also goes to the old people’s Home to share Christ’s love with them. “We also need to share with the needy and we do not only give them food, we also donate used clothing with other food items,” Rev. Canon Veronica Thomas revealed.

Mr. Beresford Navel, principal of the Methodist Boys High School, who is also the president of the group in an interview, expressed his happiness that they feel good feeding the old people. “I am impressed about the progress we have made so far, because the condition in which we saw the people to now is vastly different.

Mr. Navel also disclosed that their organisation helps underpriviledged students by providing various forms of scholarships ranging from elementary to tertiary.

Mrs. Genevieve Coker, the matron of the home expressed thanks and appreciation to the organisation for their gesture. “I am looking forward for other people to bring more support to the home.” She said.
