At Eid-Ul-Fitr Feeding Program…
400 Children Benefit From D-Roof Children’s Foundation
A renowned and registered local based Humanitarian Organization known as, D-Roof Children’s Foundation, on 2nd May 2022, fed and encouraged over 400 children at the Mount Aureol Community, off Metzger Lane by FBC vicinity, to mark this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration (Pray Day), with delicious food, biscuits, and other assorted food items. The historic food distribution and interaction ceremony was held at D-Roof Foundation’s office on 39 Metzger Lane, Mount Aureol Community via FBC compound in the Freetown Municipality.
In his Opening remarks during the event, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) /Founder, Sorie Koroma aka D-Roof, said his foundation was founded just last year, to promote child related issues, ranging from child abuse, early child marriage, child trafficking, child sexual penetration among other forms of inhuman treatment against children in Sierra Leone. Manager D-Roof noted that before now, he had been working with several International Non-Governmental Organizations, including Don Bosco Fambul, where he was able to learn how to protect and care for less-privileged children in society, noting that he is primarily focused on assisting children on education, health, human capacity building, and other priority areas, so as to complement government’s effort.
“I am doing this not to gain fame, money or recognition, but to help the kids to grow, as our motto implies: “Together We Help the Kids”. I have a competent volunteer team that is working with me assiduously to advocate and fight against child abuse in Sierra Leone. We only need the support of government, private financial institutions or private individual philanthropists, so that the issues of inhuman treatment against children will be minimized or totally eradicated”, D-Roof noted.
He appealed to parents and guardians to always prioritize their children’s education, so that the kids will be in firm position to defend and protect both the internal and external area of the country.
Mr.Kororma encouraged children to inculcate the system of reading and comprehension to improve their studies for external and internal exams in the future, adding that last year and this year, they only targeted Muslim children but they will definitely include Christmas, so that Christian children too will benefit from this foundation.
One of the Staff of the Foundation, Haja, also made similar sentiment and prayed for God’s intervention to prevail in their operations, so that concerned authorities and donor partners will soon come onboard and render support for the good of the kids and the country in general.
In his appreciation, one of the beneficiaries, Adama Bangura, expressed thanks and happiness to the CEO for recognizing them during this month of Ramadan and prayed for more goodies. She said they had been benefiting from the D-Roof Children’s Foundation since last year, with learning materials and food items on Pray Day.
