Ernest Koroma Storms UN General Assembly
The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, last Saturday arrived in New York for the 64th Session of the United Nations General Assembly debate accompanied by First Lady, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma, where he is expected to make lots of bilateral ties with sister countries of the world converging in New York.
Further members of the delegation include the Minister of Information and other officers of State House, the Foreign Ministry, and the First Lady’s office.
The delegation was met at the airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Madam Zainab Hawa Bangura, and Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Shekou M. Touray.
Also and according to confirmed reports, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the United States, Mr. Bockarie Stevens, the Deputy Permanent Representative (Political Affairs) to the United Nations Ambassador Rupert S. Davies, and a host of other officials at the Sierra Leone Mission were present to welcome the Presidential delegation. The replacement for the Military Adviser Lt. Col Ronnie Halston, was also part of the delegation, and former Military Adviser, Col. A. Fanday Turay was also present.
The Sierra Leonean Team it is said has put in place many arrangements for the President to hold several bilateral and multilateral meetings with development partners and attend other side events together with various Heads of States and Governments. The President will deliver his address before the General Assembly on Thursday 24th September 2009.
