Violence Mares FBC Elections
The long awaited Student’s Union election at Fourah Bay College has been marred by violence last Friday 2010. Some non-violent students who witnessed the electioneering process reliably told Sierra Express Media (SEM) that students on rival campuses were the main perpetrators of violence. The anti violence campaign further revealed to SEM that the violence occurred when some eligible voters who saw there names out side the voting hall but were refused from exercising their franchise. Other sources have also confirmed that some members of the “White Camp were suspected of rigging the elections. Another anti-violence campaigner has told SEM that the late commencement of voting was the main cause that led to the cancellation of the elections.
Health Minister Vow to Alter the Face of Health Rating in Sierra Leone
Come 2011, the deputy health and sanitation minister Mohamed Koroma has told journalist in the last “Meet the Press†session that the Ministry will definitely alter the negative rating of the health status in Sierra Leone. Mr. Koroma also allayed the anxiety of those present at the session that they are working tirelessly to cut down on the sky rocketing rate of both infant and maternal mortality rate in the country. He also told journalists that they are hoping to improve on health conditions of sierra Leoneans in general.
Star Beer Claims International Award
Sierra Leone’s highest selling beer has grabbed another international award for best quality and smooth drinking beer. The award came from monde selection international institute for quality selections in Brussels, Belgium.
PMDC Mohamed Bangura Denies To Go
In a consultative meeting held on the 27th May, 2010, members of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) have jubilated over the three year suspension of the party chairman, Mohamed Bangura. This decision came as unanimous denunciation of his flag bearer ship of the party. Staunch PMDC members have told (SEM) that recently, Mohamed Bangura has lost admiration and support of the party his ceaseless of calling of the party leader to step down. According to Mr. Tucker, the party’s Secretary General who reliably confirmed to SEM that the unfaltering decision to get Mohamed Bangura out of the way was like removing a chronic cancer from the party, he said.

UBA Makes a Good Will Gesture
One of Sierra Leone’s banks, United Bank For Africa (UBA) on the 27th May 2010, made remarkable good will gesture by donating used clothing and the sum of Le1,000,000 (One Million Leones) to Rainy Season Orphanage Home of Wilkinson Road, Freetown. In making this donation on behalf of the bank, the Personal Assistant to CEO Natalie Cole noted that their gesture was in recognition of World’s Children Day Celebration, she later told SEM that the donation came out of the efforts of the bank’s staff members.
