Sierra Leone will soon return to its origin, Athens of West Africa in terms of education, as people may recall that during the sixties, Sierra Leone was classed as one of the best centers for education, as people came from different parts of West Africa, and even beyond, for higher learning, but now such has ceased, due to the fact that the country lacked the proper foundation to meet international standards.

One of the Colleges that is set now to see that the phrase ‘Athens of West Africa’ over education is restored, is the College of Management and Technology (CMT)

According to the Director of this college, Dr. Cyril Musa Bakarr, this college was founded in 2012, adding that they have been in successful operation for the past nine years, and that the college has been making the difference in their operational areas like the Kambai District in the northern region of Sierra Leone.

He also noted that with the little effort they have been making over the years to push and strengthen the middle man power, he is optimistic that the new agenda brought in by the current President, to empower the middle man, will see their involvement in that program, adding that they too have a role to play, especially in the technical aspect.

He furthered that as a reliable educational institution, they have expanded their reach country wide and are offering technical courses in Sierra Leone. He added that some of the courses offered at the College of Management and Technology, with head office now at 139 Pademba Road, are electrical and electronic services, computer sciences, both hard and soft ware, safety and security management, with so many others, specifically targeting the public and private sector.

Dr. Cyril Musa Bakarr also noted that the College is a certified college from the education ministry, with NCTVA certified exams, at certificate level, Diploma and higher national diploma HND.

Since the start of this college, it has been able to contribute greatly to develop and strength the middle man power, especially in the Kambia District, where this college started its educational journey.

He however called on the youths, both female and male, to grab the opportunity that the college offers to enhance their career and strengthen their capacity, adding that all is not lost ifa student has attempted the WASCE, as there is a space for youths to better themselves by offering suitable courses.
