Sierra Leone Pathologist returns to work
The Government Senior pathologist attached at the mortuary department, Connaught Hospital, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma, has returned to work.
It could be recalled that in a letter dated 11th March 2021 Dr. Owizz Koroma was suspended with immediate effect on grounds of public criticism of service delivery at the morgue. “As you are aware the upkeep of the mortuary and services provided have recently come under serious scrutiny and criticisms mainly due to the chaotic nature of how services at the mortuary have been handled over the period”, the letter stated.
Furthermore, the suspension letter cited the refusal of Dr Owizz to hounour an official invitation by the Honourbale Minister to provide information on the situation at the morgue.
On his side, Dr Koroma has argued that the upkeep of the morgue does not fall within the mandate of his contract.
Meanwhile, this press has been intimated that Dr Owizz Koroma might be named as the country’s first Coroner Officer by President Julius Maada Bio.
