SLPP hosts APC in Kailahun
As the race for a flag bearer of the embattled opposition All Peoples Congress party ahead of 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections rages on, a leading aspirant for the party’s ticket has made a politically expedient move in the heartland of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples party that has the potential of sending cold shivers down the spinal of not just other contenders, but the governing party as well.
Returning from paying his last respects to the late Chairman of the district, Sheku Koroma, a true son of the soil and a trusted member of the party, which he had served with unflinching loyalty and selflessness, former Vice President Chief Alhaji Sidique Sam Sumana was hosted by SLPP political heavyweight in Kailahun, and presidential aspirant of the SLPP, John Oponjo Benjamin. “The move was not just strategic, but symbolic” remarked a seasoned politician on the entourage of the former Vice President.
After the pouring of libation to the ancestors invoking their spirit in the new-born union, the two leaders had a friendly conversation and took dinner together.
The meeting sends a strong message that Chief Sam Sumana has what it takes to deliver the eastern region in 2023 and secure State House for the opposition APC.
