APC, SLPP BATTLE FOR CONSTITUENCY 110

The two main political parties of the Republic of Sierra Leone the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party and the main opposition All Peoples (SLPP & APC)  battled it out past Saturday, 12 December, 2020 at the long awaited re-run election in the Western Rural of Freetown Municipality.

The two main political parties (APC & SLPP) have expressed their commitment to observe a peaceful, transparent and credible election come Saturday 12th December 2020.

The Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) on Thursday 10th December 2020 issued a press statement that pursuant to Section 6 (2) (a) of the Political Parties Act No.3 of 2002, the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) will deploy its staff to monitor the re-run of the bye elections in Constituency 110, the by election in Ward 226 in Karene District, Ward 287 in Bo, Ward 348 in Moyamba and Constituency 078 in Bo.

Furthermore, the Commission wants to commend the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and the All Peoples Congress (APC) for the high level of tolerance during this campaign period and hope this will be maintained during and after the elections.

The Commission also wants to advise that if there are any issue, let them be settled using the appropriate legal avenues as prescribed by law.

Voters are also advised to go home after voting and wait for the National Electoral Commission to announce the results.

Finally the Commission strongly advice political parties participating in these elections to be mindful of the provisions in the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, the Political Parties Act of 2002, the Public Elections Act of 2012,  the code of conduct, all memorandum of understanding signed by political parties and the Public Order Act of 1965.
