Save the Children International save lives in Quarantine

With support from Save the Children International in Sierra Leone, quantities of food and hygiene items were made available to the Case Management Pillar of NaCOVERC, at its Western Area Urban office, in Kingtom.

The items worth millions of Leones include, bags of rice, baby food, cakes of bathing and laundry soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, sanitary towels and baby diapers were made available for women and children in quarantine homes that find it very difficult to access much needed items, especially those in slum as well as hard to reach communities.

Making the presentation of the assorted items, the Emergency Response Assistant, Save the Children International, Aruna Musa, recalled a request made from the Case Management Pillar recently to support NaCOVERC to continue its commitment to saving lives of people infected and affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that more of baby food and diapers were included in the donated items citing that the charity organization focuses more on the well-being of children across the world.

Responding on behalf of NaCOVERC, Administrative Officer, Major Muctarr Koroma said the items came in at an appropriate time when vulnerable homes in quarantine are in need of such items. He noted that the case management pillar always provide food, but sometimes other basic items like baby food, diapers and sanitary towels which will help ease some stress on affected families. Like the ACC slogan on a poster on the wall which reads, ‘Hands Off all COVID-19 funds and wash your hands clean from corruption’, Major Koroma assured Save the Children International that the donated items will reach its intended beneficiaries.
