MIRO Rehabilitates Mile 91 Township Roads
MIRO Forestry Company SL Ltd. has embarked on the rehabilitation of major roads within the township of Mile 91, Tonkolili district which happens to be the hub of the company’s operations.
The rehabilitation, which started on Friday 26th July 2019, is as a result of a request made on behalf of the people by the Member of Parliament for Constituency 048, Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma. Roads to be rehabilitated are Makorie Road, Yoni Road, Back Street and Bamba Street; work on Makorie Road has already been completed.
These roads have been in a very deplorable condition for years and more so in this rainy season, they pose huge threat to the safe movement of pedestrians and residents.
MIRO is a sustainable forestry and timber products business company with plantations in Yoni Mamela, Yoni Mabanta, and Koya chiefdoms in Tonkolili district.
Aruna Bangura, Social Manager of the company, stated that such rehabilitation is a goodwill gesture and effort to upgrade living conditions in Mile 91 which is the hub of MIRO operational areas.
He furthered that, they hope the efforts of the company are appreciated not only for employment but also for sanitation, infrastructure, broadcast media, local economy and security as they will not realistically ever meet the demands for employment.
“The prompt response of MIRO on my request on behalf of my constituents to rehabilitate major roads within the township of Mile 91 shows how committed and responsive the company is to the needs of the communities”, said Hon. Aaron Aruna Koroma.
He also stated that, as a Member of Parliament, he is very appreciative of this timely response knowing the risk factors of these roads at this particular time of the season to pedestrians.
Work on the remaining roads is in progress. And this goodwill by the company is no novelty as earlier this July, they also donated a 60kva generator to the Mile 91 radio station, Radio Gbafth which was almost at the brink of closure owing to electricity constraint.
