Freetown Sierra Leone Golf Club Elects New President and calls for security alertness
The Freetown Golf Club at Lumley Beach Road in the west end of Freetown has elected new President, Madam Luba Johnson but, calling for more security alertness within the vicinity to build up confidence especially among tourists and local visitors to curb lawlessness.
The election of Madam Luba Johnson attracted Government personalities and stakeholders in the entertainment sector from across the country at the Freetown Golf Club on Thursday February 28th, 2019 in a financial statement for the year ended 31st December, 2018.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Supervisor for the Freetown Golf Club, Mr. Sheku T. Bangura maintained that the Club was founded in 1904 adding, they hold election every year to choose new president and other executive positions for the smooth running of the organization.
This medium was informed that on February 25th, 2019, Mr. Henry Timothy was attacked in the Freetown Golf Club vicinity and was stripped of his belongings including physical cash in the tune of millions and valuable items like sophisticated mobile phone, other digital items valued at millions of Leones.
According to Police sources, nine suspects have been arrested and are currently helping the Police in their investigation.
The Golf Club is registered as a company limited by guarantee and hence has no share capital while the main objective of the club continued to be that of maintaining and conducting a club for specific sporting activities for its member and their friends and generally affording to them all the usual privileges, advantages, convenience and accommodation of a club.
