Sierra Leone People’s Party In Cold War
As Prince Harding, Batillo Songa, Others Battle for Supremacy… SLPP in Cold War
Members of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), especially, the Prince Harding (in photo) and Jimmy Battilo Songa’s factions, are said to be in a cold war that may explode into a bloodier one if punitive measures are not taken and put in place.
According to sources closer to the two factions, the battle stems from the desire of the party’s Organizing Secretary, Mr. Batilo Songa, to eye the chairmanship of the SLPP because according to Songa’s faithful’s, the leader and chairman, Dr. Prince Harding, has failed to meet up the expectations of many party stalwarts especially the Young Generation wing.
This battle, our sources went on, saw thugs from both factions stabbing each other during President Bio’s Thank You Tour in Kailahun district where a certain Gibril Bangura, one of Prince Harding’s boys, stabbed a relative of the Information Minister, Mohamed Rahman Swarray, as retaliation to an earlier stabbing he (Gibril Bangura) got from the said relative on the orders of the Information Minister.
This situation got worse when Prince Harding and Battilo’s factions went to the Central Police Station and caused mayhem on each other and terrorizing the head of crime, AIG Brima Jah in the process.
The battle for the chairmanship of the SLPP has now taken a different dimension as things are getting out of hands between Prince Harding and Battilo’s camps.
