Local Rifle Fired at Sahn Malen Shootout AIG Kalia Sesay Confirms
Director of Community Affairs in the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), AIG Edward Kalia Sesay has informed press men at the jam-packed Police Headquarters Conference Hall in Freetown that one of the evidences brought to the Police from the scene of crime (Sahn Malen) in Pujehun District was a rifle locally known as ‘Charkabula’, used by hunters to shoot and kill wild animals.
Reading a press release, AIG Edward Kalia Sesay maintained that on Tuesday 22nd January, 2019, a case and enquiry file of murder, riotous conduct, throwing missiles, and other related offenses was transferred to the CID Headquarters from the Sahn Malen Police Station along with 15 suspects including the Honorable Member of Parliament for Constituency 104, Sheka Musa Sama.
He said Socfin Agriculture Company has done a huge investment in Sahn Malen on Palm Kernel cultivation adding that the management of Socfin has faced so many challenges since the palm trees started bearing fruits.
He explained that on Tuesday 22nd January, this year, there was deadly conflict between the locals and the Company which resulted to the death of two; the remains have been conveyed to the Connaught Mortuary for autopsy. AIG Kalia Sesay further deliberated that, a Police officer who was using tear gas to quell the riot was shot on his leg. He described the riot as a conspiracy to commit murder and assured that conspirators would be brought to book to give account of their inhuman acts. According to the Police Commander, the Sahn Malen confrontation has to do with incitement allegedly perpetrated by Honorable Sheka Sama. He said with the immediate deployment of Police and Military men on grounds, calm has returned to Sahn Malen.
In another development, ASP J. Moriba Sesay from CID Headquarters updated Journalists that they have gone far with the investigation of the sexual offence matter involving two mad people including ’Blacker’ allegedly influenced by a Lebanese Businessman, Tonitel Tonisco of Ecowas Street to have sex in the full view.
“We are only waiting for the Journalist who reported the matter to the CID to bring forward the video clip which claimed to be in his possession for the matter to progress”, he told press men.
