Klin Salone Needs Consulting Firms

The Deputy Chairman on Advisory committee of Klin Salone, Waste Management Association, Mr. Ibrahim Z. Kargbo has on Thursday 6th December, 2018  at the National Youth Commission, Stadium Swimming Poll , disclosed plans to engage consulting firms for the training of trainers on waste management affairs including monitoring skills, communication skills, financial discipline control, training management, leadership trainings among other basic educational concept for over 42 committee members before the 14th of December, 2018.

According to the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Kargbo says Klin Salone is a household name in Sierra Leone with support from Germany Technical Zone (GTZ) from 2006 to 2007 for over 42 youth groups across Freetown Municipality and beyond for the collection of wastes materials from government offices, hospitals, schools, lorry parks, business communities with the creation of plenty pushing cat wheelbarrows to each member of these groups.

Mr. Kargbo said, among those trainees, all of them undergo intensive training for commercial purposes on waste management policy and recycling procedures. He said the aim of the organization by then was to promote youth employment from Calaba town environs to the west of the capital city.

He said Klin Salone will again embark on waste management collection exercise after these training of trainers programme in an organized system with lay down rules, regulations by competent consulting firms like Oxfam, Concern Worldwide, Save the Children and ACF as the only strong five consortiums.

He however, disclosed that during the Ebola Outbreak, they used their pushing trucks to transport food items to quarantined homes and that they are working closely with the management of Bintumani’s investment on capacity building for young people thereby providing jobs for over Seven Hundred (700) youths in solid waste management with the help of GIZ under the EPP programme.

He added that, GIZ handed over the organization to UNIDO where youth groups were also trained in Makeni, Bo and Kenema under the Youth Employment Network (YEM) whilst he also confirmed to this medium that they always have cordial relationship with all waste management bodies including all local councils across the country.

In his statement, Advisory Committee Secretary, Mr. Abdul Deensie said apart from these highlighted consulting firms, they are also encouraging other hard working firms to apply within the time frame which is 14th December this year and that their partners in Germany were very much determined to sponsor the projects for the training of trainers on waste management collection.

He noted that ,the two main dumping sites were no more enough to accommodate the garbage that were dumping there and that government need to make use of the waste as manure for Agricultural activities to promote farming by transporting the waste to the rightful destination.

He appealed to all Sierra Leoneans to support Klin Salone so that waste materials will be a thing of the past.
