30,000 To Be HIV Tested Nationwide
Communication Coordinator at the National AIDS/HIV Secretariat, Abubakarr Koroma has disclosed in an exclusive interview with The Health Newspaper that they are targeting 30,000 between the ages 15-35 for HIV test at the end of the World Aids Day commemoration activities on the theme: “Know your HIV status, Rise Test and Be Safe.”
“We are trying to take the HIV/AIDS test to five main areas – Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Western Urban and Rural,” the Communication Coordinator disclosed, adding that the commemoration activities will commence on Monday 26thNovember and ends on 2ndDecember, this year. He discussed that the main activities would take place in Bo city.
Mr. Koroma said one of the activities would be a football match between Bo and Kenema at the Bo Mini Stadium on Saturday 1stDecember to mark the last cleaning for the year.
“We will have a rally at the centre of Bo on 30thNovember,” Mr. Koroma said, adding that partners would also join the Government to observe the National Cleaning Day since the HIV/AIDS Secretariat has to do with health and sanitation.
