ACC secures conviction in Makeni

ACC secures conviction in Makeni

The High Court of Sierra Leone, Holden at Makeni, and presided over by the Honourable Justice Monfred Sesay, on Friday 26th October 2018, sentenced John Amara and Ibrahim Bah to a fine of Thirty Million Leones (Le 30,000,000) each, or a three-year jail term.

Both men were convicted on one count of Conspiracy to Commit a Corruption Offence, contrary to Section 128(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008.

John Amara was a storekeeper at the Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC) in Makeni, while Ibrahim Bah was a fuel dealer at NP Filling Station along Kabala Road, Makeni.

It could be recalled that on Saturday 5th November 2018, at Makeni in the North of Sierra Leone, the two were caught stealing up to Ten Thousand, Five Hundred and Ten (10, 510) liters of diesel belonging to EGTC.

The ACC was represented by Lawyers Mohamed Muctarr Sow and Mohamed Kroma; whilst the defendants were represented by Lawyers A. Sannoh and A. Fornah.

The ACC reaffirms its commitment to the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone.
