Reliable sources reaching this medium revealed that the Proprietor of the Ansarul Islamic Mission, Alhaji Barrie and the Headman for Devil Hole community have drawn daggers over a private piece of land believed to be a sole property of one Alhaji Barrie who is currently residing in Freetown.
According to indigenes of Deep Eye Water, the land in question has been under the control of Alhaji Barrie for the past ten years but the Devil Hole Headman who is commonly called “Bobby” indiscriminately claimed ownership of the over five acres of farm land where edible crops are planted successively.
The attempt of the Headman to grab the vast area of land has been brought under the attention of the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, the Minister of Lands Country Planning and the Environment, Dennis Sandy and land surveyors.
In one occasion, the professionals in the ministry issued stern warning for the Headman to quit the land because according to them it is privately owned by Alhaji Barrie for the fact that the land documents was signed by the first Headman of Devil Hole community, Alhaji Ibrahim Sesay.
Contacting the proprietor, Alhaji Barrie to explain his own side of the story, he deliberated that they bought the private land in the full presence and view of community stakeholders including chiefs and other decision makers. He appealed to the Headman to maintain peace and stop taking thugs or thoughtless young men to terrorize peaceful citizens for self aggrandizement.
In his response, the Headman of Devil Hole, “Bobby” as he is fondly called bragged that he is a die-hearted supporter of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and whatever he said is final because they are in power and has the ability to stand against any confrontation.
