MP Backs Mano Koya Headman to Protect Government Property
The Member of Parliament (MP) under the umbrella of the All Peoples Congress (APC) for Constituency 106 in the Western Rural District of Waterloo, M C Kabia has joined the Headman for Mano Koya Village in the fight to protect Government properties on Wednesday 22nd August 2018.
The intervention of the law maker came as a result of pressure mounted between the Headman and one Mr. Issa Sankoh who claimed to be rightful owner of a portion of land located under heavy tension of the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Power (HEP) cables, an area identified by energy expert as danger zone.
The MP was in the community to witness a demarcation exercise of the area within the ABB Pole believed to be under the supervision and control of the Government of Sierra Leone.
According to the legislator, he decided to postpone the demarcation exercise together with the community stakeholders as a result of the complete absence of security personnel to manage the heavy tension between the Headman who have the full support of community youths and the alleged grabber of the Government land.
He emphasized on the alarming issues of land grabbing and cited some people who have currently encroached Government lands along the Hillside Bye-pass Road after receiving compensation from the Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA).
