Dr. Samura Kamara Unveils Sierratel 4 G LTE Product

Sierratel, one of Sierra Leone’s fastest and most reliable mobile  network providers has officially unveiled its 4 G LTE Product with 10 times Faster than ever.

The unveiling ceremony, which attracted high Government Dignitaries, International Donor partners,  Civil Servants, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Security personnel, Religious Leaders, Media Institutions to name but few was held at the Miata Conference Hall on Tuesday the 23rd of January, 2018,

Giving the keynote address on behalf of President Koroma, the Presidential Candidate of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara, expressed sincere appreciation to Sierratel for what he described as a good initiative for improving communication noting that no country can succeed without proper Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Advancement.

He therefore stated that the Government of President Koroma has earlier targeted ICT Improvement to connect Sierra Leone to the Global world in the area of economic growth which he said will prosper the nation in diverse ways.

The Hopeful Presidential Candidate, updated that, the Government has already introduced the Fiber Optic Cable for the transformation of the ICT Sector so that the least man can access communication from anywhere across the country adding that Government will continue to provide the friendly environment for more fruitful engagements and collaborations with both local and international partners for sustainable development.  He maintained that the Government will remain focus on the improvement of ICT Revolution because according to him, it is the simplest way to transform the country’s economy.

“Those who are old enough to remember slightly when the ICT Sector was down the drain can agree with me that Sierratel was not in active service for almost a decade and it is only our Government who came in power to salvage the situation to where it is now”,Dr. Samura  stated.

He however commends the administration of Sierratel for improving the sector rapidly with new initiative to restore the country’s only network company to its original status by establishing the 4 G LTE product for Sierra Leoneans.

Dr. Samura went further to encourage Sierra Leoneans, Foreign companies, NGOs, Civil Society activists and media outlets to support Sierratel in their drive to take over as the leading network company of the state and extended praises to Sierratel administration for giving him the golden opportunity to launch this wonderful 4G LTE product.

In his power point presentation, the Minister of Information and Communication (MIC), Hon.Alhaji Alpha Khan expressed profound gratitude to Sierratel administration for achieving these desired goals in the communication industry.

The Scientist updated audience that the first Generation (1 G) was established by Sierratel in 1996, the second Generation (2 G) was established in 1999 and the third Generation (3 G) was established in 2010 adding that Sierratel has been doing well under his leadership as Minister of Information and communications.

He said, Sierratel started the initiative of this fourth Generation (4 G LTE) in 2016 with positive and continuous consultation with Partners, Line Ministries especially the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) who play a pivotal role to make the process a success adding that this will motivate economic activities to flourish in the whole country thereby creating employment opportunities for young people across the country.

In his short statement, the Chairman of the National Telecommunications Commission (NATCOM), Momoh Konte, said he is very much impressed with Sierratel for reaching this crucial level in the history of the country to launch this brilliant 4 G LTE product which he said will make tremendous changes in the technology industrialization process. He said, NATCOM will continue to regulate the activities of telecommunications companies of the state.
