CTC’s administrative lapses exposed
Recent happenings in the Operational Department of the Commodities Trading Company (CTC), at the former Datsun Garage, Bai Bureh Road in Kissy, in relation to the mysterious missing of over 1,000 bags of rice in one of the biggest stores without any physical damage on either the doors or the locks, followed by the unlawful dismissal of the Clearing Supervisor who has now threatened to take Court action against the company, has not only exposed the long standing administrative lapses but also the long standing syndicate of the major importers of rice and other essential commodities.
It has also been revealed that recently, the seal in the cacao store was found damaged which also prompted an outrage that further indicates that the organized syndicate is more powerful than the Operation Department.
Further investigations have also revealed that the management is the root cause of the many shortages the company has been facing recently.
It has been further alleged that the current management has stop purchasing padlocks for their containers, preferring instead to rely on the agency padlocks which are sub-standard and can be easily tampered.
The source further stated that the previous administration before Pa Jaward was providing resources to the Clearing Supervisor to procure strong and tamper proof padlocks in order to prevent any breakages.
It has also emerged that another factor that is responsible for the shortages is the fact that the company no longer clears their containers with the original seal from Europe and has also long before now stopped providing rubber seals to the Clearing Supervisor thereby making the job very difficult unlike the previous administration.
We have also learned that the company headquarters at Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown is making available enough petty cash to ensure that their goods are cleared without any hindrance but the said money is being allegedly diverted to the pockets of some Lebanese nationals working directly with the Operational department.
It has also been alleged that the recent sacking of all Security Guards at Datsun Garage Branch is far from solving the problem simply because the company still retains the big names behind the screen that have and will continue to intimidate and bye pass any type of security force that the company will employ.
