Tamba Marrah Rehabilitates Neya Chiefdom Central Mosque
The concept of development is not only interpreted by availability of social amenities in a particular community, but also the social and political consciousness and awareness of the natives to determine their development. (Photo: Newly rehabilitated Mosque at Porpon town.)
It is against this background that the people of Neya Chiefdom, Porpon town in Koinadugu District were jubilating for having their central mosque rehabilitated. The two year project was purely undertaken by members of the community with support from one of their sons popularly known as Alie Tamba Marah.
Talking to this medium, the Chief Imam expressed his gratitude to the community for embracing the initiative, which he said had started some two years back. He added that the effort of every member of the community contributed greatly in enhancing the positive outcome of the project.
Alie Tamba Marah described the rehabilitation project of the House of God as a pay back to what the chiefdom has been given him over the years. He noted that the ability for him to mobilize resources to support the initiative came as a result of the blessing and support demonstrated by Neya People. “They deserved all the praises for the success of the project”, said Marrah and he continued by counting on the selflessness and patriotism he has been demonstrating in the chiefdom since 1996 when he was serving as a voluntary community teacher for five years.
Reacting to critics that perceived his development strides as a means of gaining political recognition, he said the game of politics and development are different and cannot be bind together.
He concluded by calling on all and sundry to be peaceful and embrace the concept of development for the general good of the Chiefdom and district as a whole.
