Will APC Continue to Lose More Parliament and Council Seats?
The margin loss of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party in the just concluded Ward 139, Kambia District election to an independent candidate supported by one of the Presidential aspirants for the main opposition, Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella prompted many concerned citizens to ask if the incumbent party will continue to lose Parliamentary and Local Council elections in the March 5th 2018 general election.
In another Parliamentary election held at Constituency 030, it was also a target for the APC candidate, Honorable Ibrahim Ben Kargbo which was exhibited by the small margin he defeated the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) Chairman, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray.
The public is therefore amazed over the unexpected loss of the incumbent party in their stronghold to an independent candidate supported by one of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Presidential Flagbearer aspirants, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (in photo) especially at this time when election is fast approaching.
Supporters of the APC in other parts of the country are blaming all the APC Big Guns that hailed from Kambia District including APC’s Flagbearer aspirants, Alimamy P. Koroma and Dr. Sam Sesay, Chief of Staff, Saidu Conton Sesay, Minister of Youth Affairs, Bai Mahmoud and a host of other prominent names in the APC government on how they have been interacting with their people that lead them to vote overwhelmingly against the ruling party.
In that regard, many have observed that the APC party needs to redouble effort in terms of providing basic necessity for the citizenry of this country if they wish to have a total victory in the fourth coming general election. The loss of the APC party on the Friday July 30th Kambia Bye-election is a clear demonstration that Sierra Leoneans have kicked out the 4 four 4 system of voting as it is not result oriented.
The sons and daughters who have enjoyed politics under the APC ticket must now put presidential ambition and political supremacy on their back to work hard and regain the party’s popularity brought by President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma or else they will record a failed result in the next election which they desire to win again.
