Le 300M Bail for Drug Thieves
Magistrate Dr. Abou Bakarr Binneh Kamara of Court No.1 yesterday granted 300 million Leones bail to Amadu Kanda Jalloh and Mohamed Jalloh. The accused persons were to produce two sureties who must produce National Passport and Title Deeds and must be resident in the as Western Area.
The accused are facing two counts ranging from conspiracy to defraud contrary to law to receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons on the 24th September, 2016, in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, conspired together with others unknown to defraud the Government of Sierra Leone to wit larceny and on the same date and place did receive quantity of Free Health Care drugs being stolen property of Government of Sierra Leone.
The Magistrate after granting bail to the accused persons committed the matter to the High Court. In his committal statement, Magistrate Binneh said that after going through the evidence in the matter, he was satisfied that the accused personsĀ had a case to answer and, therefore, committed the matter to the High Court of Justice for trial.
