MoHS Engages Parliamentarians on Hepatitis B & Malaria

Members of Parliament as well as stakeholders on Thursday 15th June 2017 benefited on a one day sensitization advocacy meeting on national Malaria control program strategy intervention organized by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS).  Chairman on Health and Sanitation Hon. The high level sensitization  meeting was held due to a summoned by the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Health and Sanitation  in order to brief Members of Parliament (MP’s) about the significance of Hepatitis ‘B’ disease and Malaria control that have been affecting the lives of Sierra Leoneans in the country.

The meeting which was geared towards facilitating effective policies that mobilizes political will and creates an enabling environment through education; awareness raising and policy advocacy

In his remarks, the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Dr. A B D Sesay described the advocacy meeting as a significant milestone towards malaria disease control and the prevention of Hepatitis that have claimed several lives particularly children under five, lactating mothers as well as pregnant women amongst others.

Deputy Chairman of the committee, Hon. Alhassan Kamara of Constituency 069 Western Urban Area in his remarks encouraged his colleague Members of Parliament (MP’s) to pay ken attention in order to be able to ask key questions as well as proffer recommendations for a holistic approach for the development of good health service delivery in the health sector.
