Of What Essence Is Nassit?

Every month, thousands of workers across the country have their salaries deducted in the name of paying a National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) in a bid to have a secured future. But the question remains whether these monies are been put into the right use? Or are the contributors really getting their monies after their retirement or after been qualified to claim their NASSIT?

It is no longer a secret that when people usually go to NASSIT to claim their benefit after retirement, they find it extremely difficult to get their monies back. Sometimes it takes years upon years for one to get what is due him or her. Some even die in the process; making it super difficult for siblings to claim that benefit. There are several instances in which people have to give up on their benefit because of the difficulties attached in getting their monies back. Why haven’t NASSIT developed a system that will make it easy for contributors to get back their benefit after spending turbulent years working for that money? But rather, they are busy spending on ‘’white elephant’’ projects that does not make any meaning to the ordinary man in Sierra Leone including building extremely expensive houses  that are not affordable to the public amongst others.

We will not stop in telling the people and the government of this country of the many lapses that are engulfed in this institution called NASSIT.
