According to the Headmaster, Sanpha Koroma, the school was established in a makeshift structure in 1973 but was formally reconstructed by Plan International in 1982, adding that 35 years on, the school structure has almost dilapidated.
He said despite several appeals to government and donor organizations to help rehabilitate the school structure, none has come to their aid. The headmaster lamented that the children sit on bare floor to learn for lack of furniture.
Sanpha Koroma disclosed that the enrollment in SLMWBO, which is a co-educational school, is about 280 pupils, adding that the school has seven teachers on payroll and two volunteers who were verified in April this year for recruitment.
He therefore appealed to government Plan International, and other concerned institutions to aid the rehabilitation of the old school, concluding that they have been doing extremely well in the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) since he took over as Head Teacher in 2004 following the retirement of his predecessor, Mr. J.F. Conteh.
