Lebanese Community Donates To 34 Mosques

The Lebanese Community in Sierra Leone headed by Mr. Samir Hassaniyeh, on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017, donated food items worth over one hundred and twenty million Leones (LE120, 000,000) to 34 Mosques in Freetown. Some of the items included  170  dozen of mega cola  drinks,170 bags of 50 kilo rice, 34 big bag of milk, 34 five-gallon jerry cans of oil, 34 big bags of sugar, 34 cartoons of cocoa and 34 cartoons of juice.

Speaking at the short donation ceremony which took place at the Central Mosque, the Lebanese Community President, Mr. Hassaniyeh, said it was a pleasure to make the donation to the 34 mosques, furthering that they have been in this country for decades now and they consider themselves as Sierra Leoneans.

He noted that since it is the month of fasting, they deemed it fit to make the kind gesture. He furthered that it was not the first time to make such an offer and it will not be the last. He expressed hope that the donated items will help the beneficiaries greatly in this holy month of Ramadan, assuring that the Lebanese community will continue its charity work.

The 34 sheiks representing the 34 mosques received the items on behalf of their various mosques.

A representative of the Lebanese who presented the donation called on the beneficiaries to pray for the Lebanese community of Sierra Leone and for Sierra Leone as we are all one people.

On behalf of the Chief Imam at the Central Mosque, Sheik Ahmad Tejan Sillah, Sheik Chernoh Maju Bah of Masid Rasul A’azan, Off Wilkinson Road thanked the Lebanese Community and offered prayers for the country.
