Government Displays Transparency In 709 Carat Diamond Transaction
The demarche undertaken by the government in the handling of the 709 carat diamond found in Kono district is credible and worth commending.
The decision taken by its owner to hand it over to the government is inspirational and worth emulating.
Meanwhile, diamond experts in South Africa and Belgium have estimated the gemstone at a colossal $62 million!
A similar gemstone was discovered by a Fullah alluvial miner during the SLPP administration but the government dismissed the gem as an ordinary stone. The stone was not returned to its owner. The whole saga ended as a buff case.
In effect, it is against this background that I have always said that the APC and SLPP only differ in their eating habits: one eats under cover of darkness while the other eats in broad daylight with rudeness!
