Doris Bright takes oath as the 5th Chairlady of SLPP Dallas Texas
Texas USA: March 15, 2017. Elections are on the horizon for the young generation, and for the first time in the history of Sierra Leone People’s Party North American (SLPP-NA) Branch in the United States, all of the candidates running for the executive office of the Dallas Chapter went unopposed with Mrs. Doris Bright popularly known as (Aunty Doris), emerged as the Chairlady of the chapter.
The elections result was publicly announced by one of the elections committee members, Dr. Josephine Ladipo in Dallas on March 11 in a very peaceful atmosphere. The founder of the chapter, Mr. Solomon Pieh was the elections committee Chairman and and Ms Ann Marie Williams was one of the three commissioners. The past leaders, including Mr. Yayah Bio and Mrs. Kadie Tejan-Sie, and many other people with credentials witnessed the swearing in ceremony. Mrs. Jestina Momoh, the vice Chair for the past regime, on behalf of the Chairman, Mr. Donald Korpoi did the handing over ceremony
The Executive of the new administration comprise of ten positions. The ten man executive mostly young people took an oath of office before a renowned SLPP lawyer, Mr. Andrew Jaiah Kaikai. The shifting balance of power in the SLPP Dallas chapter gave greater political weight to the taking of oaths, and developments when young generation continuing to surface in politics.
The captain for the next two year voyage to sail in Sierra Leone is Mrs. Doris Bangura-Bright (Chairman). The Vice Chairman is Mr. Sahr Mbayo. Mr. Bryma Samba clinched the Secretary General Position; the man who keeps the money is MR. Gasper Tejan. The Financial Secretary is Mr. Joe Pokawa, while the Women’s leader is Mrs. Princess Mustapha, and the Public Relations Office PRO is for the second time won by Mr. Sorie Tejan. The Young Generation leader went to a gigantic colorful Michael Jackson stylish man, Mr. Daniel Macarthy. Mr. Junior Kemoh is now the Organizing Secretary.
In her brief speech, Mrs. Doris Bright urges unity to the chapter and to the entire SLPP party. She said that peace and unity is the only pathway to victory on 2018 presidential and parliamentary elections. Mrs. Bright reiterated that in her tenure, the Dallas chapter would never be partisan or one sided to any party presidential aspirants. We are looking forward to render our overwhelming support to the flagbearer the party so choose and present to us, she said. Members have the right to exercise their democratic freedom to push their case for their candidate of their choice, but the chapter in its entity has no candidate, she added.
The new Chairlady reaffirmed her chapter commitment to play a pivotal role to join hands with the SLPP-NA branch to bring back the party to power in March, 2018. As a healthcare professional with an enormously broad-minded and broad-reaching approach to people, Mrs. Doris Bangura-Bright assures her member that her administration will raises the SLPP-Dallas chapter into a higher height, she promised.
Mrs Doris Bangura-Bright is a Registered Nurse who holds a Bachelors of Nursing Degree (BSN) and currently working on her Masters in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). Among opinions expressed about Mrs Bangura-Bright were that she is a very hardworking woman and a mother to the chapter who strongly supports the members and activities of the Chapter at every level.
The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Dallas chapter in North America has pledged to help uphold the current level of peace in the party and support the preservation of unity so that the party wins with an ultimate agreement from all factions. The elections commissioners, in their speeches emphasize unity in the party and that Dallas chapter has set the pace for an overall commitment by the entire party fans to maintain peace and unity in the party. According to Solomon Pieh, the founder of the chapter, peace explores ways of achieving national cohesion among the ethnically and regional diverse lines to achieve the party cohesive goal.
Meanwhile, the Chairlady and her Executive in collaboration with the SLPP-NA would be working on a suitable date for their inauguration wherein the Dallas Chapter Executive will be taking another oath office before the leadership of SLPP-NA to mark the commencement of a two-year term.
