Pharmacy Board Takes Part in International Trade Fair
The Drug regulatory agency in the country, Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone has taken part in the ongoing trade fair that kicked off last Saturday in Freetown Sierra Leone. The trade fair that is hosted by the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce attracts trade and development partners from the West African sub-region and local actors in a grand exhibition that is currently going on at the Miatta Conference Grounds in Freetown.
The Board in the next two weeks of the Sierra Leone International Trade Exhibition will showcase success and challenges in the fight against counterfeit drugs, showcase the licensed and registered pharmaceutical products, creating a way of on the spot public health education for the numerous visitors expected to patronize the Board in the coming two weeks.
Showcasing of fake products involves pointing to ways the public can identify features that are common in fake products already permeating the country’s drugs and pharmaceutical markets.
Other forms of public enlightenment ventures were also employed such as multimedia, audio and photographic presentations; all in a bid to ensuring the public as well as other visitors from the sub-region get to know about the Pharmacy Board as well as be enlightened in the way of fake and potent medicines.
