Dockyard Stakeholders meet to discuss development

Mr. Ibrahim Mansary, who chaired the program, in his opening remarks said that every community member has the right to give their opinion on the development plan.

Citing the objective of the Stakeholders Meeting, Dr. Rashida Karama, a retired Civil Servant, noted that for the past thirty years the Kissy Dockyard community has been lacking these structures, basic necessities that could foster the growth and development of any given settlement.

Chief Williams in his statement called on the Kissy Dockyard community stakeholders to adhere and support the vision of Dr. Rashida Kamara in correcting mistakes and to lend their support.

Ya. Bowara Turay from Culvert Community said that as leaders it is their responsibility to support community development and thanked Dr. Rashida Kamara and Ibrahim Mansary for their brilliant initiative for summoning such a very important meeting in the interest of community development.

Speaking on behalf of elders in the Kissy Dockyard Community, a Senior Retired Civil Servant Mr. Tamba Dumbar Matturi (TD) stated that it is a wonderful opportunity that must be realized to its fullest potential as by way of addressing emerging challenges people should learned to embrace development.

Informing the gathering, the Chairman for the Class Three community Mr. Osman Sesay informed all that one Mr. Lamin Gbla, a Resident within the Kissy environ, was philanthropic enough to offer a parcel of  three town lots for the  construction of  the market, health and recreational facilities, and also promised to construct the market. He then called on the stakeholders to set up a body to facilitate the construction work to reduce the sufferings of the people.
